One of the most productive ways to restrict the access to your site is to block the IP addresses of those that must not be able to open it. There are various reasons to do this. For example, you may want a specific individual not to be able to see your website, or you may limit the access for a whole state. You can even block IP addresses in case you discover that there are way too many web browser requests from them, if a huge number of spam comments are left in your sites or if a script login page has been loaded a lot of times. In any of these scenarios, the traffic is most probably fake and has been created by an automatic bot, so you can safely block any suspicious IP address, so as to be on the safe side. Thus, you will also avoid the chance of your web server getting overloaded by too many fake requests.

IP Blocking in Hosting

If you have a hosting account with us and you wish to block one or a few IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, that is integrated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. By using a very simple interface, you can restrict any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it requires to complete this is to log inside to your Control Panel, to go to the IP Blocking section, to pick a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You will not need to do anything challenging if you would like to block an entire network - you'll simply have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed within the exact same section, so you will be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting CP, provided with our semi-dedicated hosting plans, will permit you to solve the problem with unwanted traffic very easily and quickly. It incorporates an IP blocking tool where you may add IP addresses with only a few clicks. All domains and subdomains that you have within the account will be listed in a drop-down menu, so you only have to choose the one you need and then type in the IP address that has to be blocked. If you want to block a whole range, a C-class network for instance, you just have to type the first three octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That shall block all 254 addresses, so you'll not have to type in them by hand. Considering that all the IPs that you include in this section will be listed, you may very easily unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button related to the particular IP.
